For my favorite gypsies

This one is for Hamish and Kat who have just left Koh Tao. Seven years ago it was all pretty low key with bungalows spread out along Sairee Beach and a couple of concrete boxes which constituted a town at the pier. Nightlife was a series of little shacks along Sairee that would stake out a patch of sand come sunset. Pretty laid back stuff, just bamboo flares, axe cushions and Ministry of Sound chillout circa 1999. Oh and fire twirling, coz that's what dreadlocked travel bums are into. Diving wise there were a couple of big shops and a few actual dive boats but mostly it was old fishing boats. The boat we were on was a freelancer that worked with a few small shops. Ended up spending a couple of nights out on the boat with the crew squid fishing, drinking Chang, and sleeping on axe cushions out on the deck. Good times. Thanks for bringing back the memories team.
